If he's such an honest, loving, merciful God. Then why does bad thing's happen to good people?
That's an honest question. It's a question I've asked many time's. Most recent being last year, when Katrina hit. However, after thinking about it, I feel like I've come to a conclusion. Atleast for myself, on why bad thing's happen.
When the earthquake hit in Asia, everyone around the world felt it. In some way, shape or form. We all felt it. Many people asked, "Why God, do you let something this horrible strike these people? They have hardly anything as it is, why take what they have away?" The same thing with Katrina. Why's filled all of our head's, and spilled out of our mouth's. Why did it happen? No one know's why thing's happen. I'm a strong believer in lesson's hidden behind mask's. They can be hidden behind earthquakes, hurricane's, tornadoes, war's, and so forth. I don't believe in accident's. I believe everything happen's for a reason. I think we are suppose to learn from it. Rather it's to show us we are doing wrong, or to make us stronger. I think we are always suppose to take good from the bad thing's that happen around us.
There's a verse in the Bible, and it's when Elijah is hiding in the cave . It's I Kings 19:11-13, and it say's,
"...Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"I believe that thing's happen to get our attention. I don't believe God is in the bad thing's. Just as he did with Elijah, he was there with him after it all. That's when he chose to speak to Elijah. Why? Because, if you think about it when do people turn to God the most? After something horrible happen's. Like 9/11 and so forth. After something like that happen's, our heart's are broken. Something that become's hardened after time, is now opened and exposed. That's the time God know's he can reach us the most. I don't think it mean's he use's people's live's as a game to get someone else's attention. I think Satan has a lot to do with why a lot of bad thing's happen. I have learned to not look for God in the horrible thing's that happen, but look for him in the thing's that are left in the aftermath -- me.
